Management Consultant (Grants and Development)

Beam Reach Consulting Group seeks a full-time management consultant with experience in grant funding programs (i.e., pursuit and/or execution of), development work for nonprofit organizations, and related procurement activities. Beam Reach Consulting Group currently specializes in infrastructure resilience and cybersecurity in support of client projects related to U.S. energy, transportation, security, or other infrastructure. Current client pursuits and federal administration goals have increased availability of grant funding and pursuit by public and private sector organizations. Beam Reach seeks to expand its ability to guide and manage client projects and programs responding to these funding opportunities, and to pursue additional opportunities with nonprofit agencies focusing on social and societal issues. Candidates will apply expertise in business management, leadership theory and application, project management, change management, and organizational strategy to support clients in government, industry, and public sector organizations.

  • Position: Management Consultant (Grants & Development) – Full Time

  • Location: Washington, DC metro area. Flexible office location opportunity. Reliable internet connectivity required to work remotely and join virtual meetings. Some domestic travel may be needed for short (2-3 day) meetings, subject to availability.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, communication, mass communication, or related field, advanced degree and/or extensive professional experience in relevant fields is a strong plus.

  • Experience: 15+ years in management and leadership consulting, or direct practice in industry, public sector organizations, academia, or government.

  • Desired skills: Knowledge of strategic planning, project leadership, team leadership, and communications best practices. Knowledge of security policies and best practices. Effective written and oral communication skills are a must. Mastery of current software tools for business is desired (e.g. MS Office Suite, Project, Visio, GSuite).

  • Estimated hours/week: Full time

  • Flexibility: Willing to work in an entrepreneurial environment that requires critical analysis, a questioning attitude, and self-directed research. Strong desire to learn about new or unfamiliar technical or policy topics.

  • Innovative approaches: Awareness of novel and leading management and leadership practices, and a willingness to share and advocate for these practices.

  • Confidence: Ability to direct discussions, facilitate groups of senior government and industry leaders, and strong ability to “think on your feet”. Bring a desire to try, learn, fail fast, and try again.

  • Capability: Ability to ask insightful questions and provide solid recommendations on current business and leadership practices.

  • Independent research and analysis on best methods for organizational change, strategy, and leadership in public and private sector domains.

  • Facilitate discussions on complex technical and financial topics with subject matter experts. Form analysis and recommendations based on meeting outcomes.

  • Attend and actively participate in client meetings and discussions.

  • Lead initiatives in pursuit of funding opportunities and to develop organizational strategies, cultural change, and policy development and adoption.
